In March of 2022, three puppies were abandoned on the side of the road. Fortunately, they were quickly taken in by Stray Paws Rescue for immediate care. One of the puppies had gotten sick and the other two needed to be separated to keep them from catching anything as well. Thankfully, all the puppies were saved and Janet, a volunteer from Stray Paws, reached out to Dogs for Our Brave to see if we were in need of any new puppies. This is where we were introduced to Nala and her two siblings. Although it was a difficult decision, Nala stood out as she was very attentive, energetic, and was extremely motivated. Nala’s little sister, Ava, was adopted the next day. And she still gets to see her big brother, Ziggy, from time to time as he was adopted by a family member of one of our trainers. We look forward to watching little Nala grow from the abandoned puppy she was to the service dog she will become.
