Dogs for our Brave (DFOB) is dedicated to our mission of saving two lives at once. Our standards of excellence start at the beginning by rescuing each dog, at all cost, for our 12 to 18 month service dogs training program.

The pairing up of dog and veteran takes place more than a year after a dog is identified for training, and then another three months of customizing the skills of the dogs happen before it’s placed in the home. It’s a very intense and intentional process, because our main goal is a successful 50/50 partnership between the veteran and their service dog.

Paul Scimone, Director of Training, an expert in canine behavior created a training program that’s individualized to the behavior and psychology of each animal and tailored to the needs of each veteran. In addition to dozens of assistance commands, the dogs also learn skills to assist with anxiety, PTS episodes and nightmares.

We are different because we don’t stop there, DFOB covers the financial needs of each dog for their life, consisting of food, pharmaceutical, veterinary care, monthly preventatives, equipment, and toys. Never a cost to our veterans, ever!
