Matt Williams & Sy

Matt volunteered to serve our country following 9/11. He served as a Combat Engineer for several years in Fallujah, Iraq. Just a few short months ago he was paired with Sy in February, but it was clear from the beginning that they are a match made in heaven. Sy made a big impression on the team with her loveable nature, and we are so excited to watch these two grow as a team and to share their journey.

We congratulate Sy on her January 2022 graduation, and give her a round of a-paws! Matt says, “I’m so thankful and feel so blessed to have been not only chosen to participate in the Dogs for our Brave program, but for the absolutely amazing Miss Sy that the wonderful staff eventually paired me with. From the first time she stayed the night with me she was an absolute perfect fit. I could immediately tell a difference in my day to day life, mood, and emotions after having her. She is by far the sweetest girl I have ever met, and I can’t wait to continue to life’s adventures with my new best friend.”

Recently, Matt’s smoke alarm shorted and caught fire in his apartment. (We know… irony.) After a rough day, Matt had taken sleep aids and gone to bed early. The fire had gotten large enough to cause serious damage to his bathroom. Luckily, Sy was the hero of the day and woke Matt up  before the fire could spread anywhere else.
