Bob

Bob is a full-blooded Anatolian Shepherd. He was rescued from a high-kill shelter outside of Houston, Texas just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Head trainer Paul chose Bob on a whim without actually meeting him. Bob was flown to St. Louis by our friend, Chris, who works with the award-winning charity animal transport organization, Pilots N Paws. Bob did initially stay with Chris’ family for several weeks. Then in March of 2019, Bob entered the DFOB training program where he excelled quickly.

Bob is regarded as a highly intelligent and exceptionally gentle giant. When veteran candidate Greg Miller first started volunteering his time with Paul at the DFOB facility, Paul immediately noticed a kinship between Bob and Greg. A strong bond quickly formed, and when Bob had completed all of his basic training, he started to train for Greg’s needs. Bob is able to provide balance and stability, retrieve any small item that may be dropped (even a dime!), hold items, open and close doors, pull a wheelchair, get help during an emergency, and provide emotional therapy. Most interestingly, Bob was the first DFOB dog that was trained to retrieve items from the refrigerator. This was intended so that Greg could have Bob retrieve an orange juice for him during his diabetic emergencies.

Once commissioned, Bob will move to St. Charles, Missouri with Greg. They have already been going to church together on Sunday mornings.
