THE BATTLE
VETERANS ARE SUFFERING IN SILENCE
-
Many of the men and women, who at one point signed a contract to defend this nation with the real possibility of laying down their own life in the process, are struggling and suffering in silence.
-
While most people are familiar with the number 22, that number is based on those veterans in the VA system. We know that there are more veterans that die by suicide that are NOT accounted for in those statistics, making this reality much worse.
-
The current state of our nation and events around the globe are heightening our veterans’ stress and anxiety levels, raising concerns among their families and communities.
-
Most of our veterans in need of help are not looking for a handout, but rather a hand up; and these warriors and heroes deserve the opportunity to become the best version of themselves, but hesitate to ask for help.
The DFOB DIFFERENCE
The “Special Forces” of Service Dog Providers.
Nearly 100% of service dogs supporting veterans today are PTS and emotional support service dogs. Because we take our training a step further by training our dogs to serve the mobility needs of wounded veterans, some consider Dogs For Our Brave the “special forces” of service dog providers.
Savings Two Lives at Once.
We also save two lives at once by utilizing rescue dogs at every opportunity. These dogs deserve a second chance and can do so by finding purpose in serving our country’s heroes.
A Bridge to Healing.
Each DFOB service dog is a bridge that allows us into the veteran's life to help them identify where they struggle in terms of mind, body, spirit, and relationships in their daily life. We look to support them in taking the action or finding the resources that they need to address the shortfalls which ultimately leads to balance and peace; empowering each veteran through the daily discipline that is required to care for and use the skills their service dog provides.
No Financial Burden, Ever.
Thanks to the generous support of individual and corporate donors, corporate partners, and the community, each of our veterans can rest easy knowing 100% of the costs for training, feeding, equipment and veterinary care for their dog are covered by Dogs For our Brave for the life of the dog. And when it is time for their dog to retire, we will provide them with another dog.
Join Us in The Fight.
This is a literal fight for the lives of many in our veteran community. We need veterans and civilians alike, to join in this fight!
Changing Lives
MSgt John Hayes & Mia, USMC
“Mia is an amazing gift!” John says, “She has done so much for me in such a short amount of time. The dream of having a service dog is now a reality.”
Corporal Simon Jackson & Holly, USA
Holly helps me every day with being a more independent person. She can pick things up, sense when I’m in pain and support me to keep moving, and ask for help if I need it. Since I’ve had Holly, I’ve been able to live a better life because I can be more self-reliant, and I’m no longer worried about falling out of my chair because she never leaves my side as my constant support.”
Sgt Cristian Valle & Scotty, USA
“Scotty is providing support each and every day. He helps me retrieve items, brace when I am getting up and down, and provides companionship. Scotty’s technical skills are impressive! I am so happy to have Scotty by my side.”
